While the ‘X-Files’ has been off the air since 2002 and it’s last successful movie being in 1998 (we’re all still pretending the 2008 flop ‘I Want to Believe’ didn’t happen), the show’s fan base is still as rabid as ever. To mark the event, Comic-Con will have a commemorative panel for the show with quite a line up of the show’s creators including: Chris Carter, David Amann, Vince Gilligan, Howard Gordon, Darin Morgan, Glen Morgan, John Shiban and Jim Wong. Noticeably absent from the list are the show’s 2 central stars,  Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson.) Actually all that is listed on there are the writers and producers with no real word of any of the actual cast.

While not on the official RSVP list, Gillian Anderson’s official website does state that “She will attend the XF 20th Anniversary Panel on Thursday (July 18), a XF Comic Book Panel, and will also be signing at the Lightspeed Fine Art Booth.” So at the very least, she’ll be there. My guess is that the actual RSVP list is just incomplete. Clearly the entire team on the show get along as David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson, and Chris Carter all want a third movie to be created! Hell, the show was so popular that even off the air it has continued on into a season 10! Well at least in comic book format.

Still, the exploits of Mulder and Scully are legendary in the science fiction and horror communities as it was a show that really made us all love watching an alien fanatic that everyone thought was a little crazy take down a government/alien conspiracy. Who knows? Maybe on the eve of it’s 20th anniversary we’ll all get what we want and hear an announcement about a third movie based on the alien takeover. Think of all of the guest actors that could come back!

Would you be up for another view into Chris Carter’s classic series? A final movie to tie up loose ends and give the fans a send off that the second movie ruined for us is something I would happily pay to go see. While I won’t be holding my breath, I can honestly tell you one thing – I want to believe!
