Bryan Singer’s return to the X-Men franchise with ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ was big from the start, but the director had to go and make it bigger. Not only was he planning to include the stars of Matthew Vaughn’s ‘X-Men: First Class’, but he pulled in a number of familiar faces from his X-movies as well, like Hugh Jackman, Ellen Page, Patrick Stewart, and more. Then, once he sorted out the reprising cast, he added a ton of other huge names to the project like Peter Dinklage, Fan Bingbing, Booboo Stewart, and Evan Peters, who was already a pretty late addition since production has been underway since April in Canada. But it appears that Singer hasn’t stopped casting yet since we’ve gotten word that another actor has joined the team.

While the filmmaker has been trying to scoop the media when it comes to casting by revealing new additions on his Twitter before anyone can report on it, it’s been learned that up and coming Australian actor Josh Helman is the latest addition to the film that’s based on the iconic time traveling tale by Chris Claremont and John Byrne. While many may not recognize Helman unless they’re fans of Aussie soaps, the actor is starting to build a name for himself here in the States with projects like ‘Animal Kingdom’, HBO’s ‘The Pacific’, and ‘Jack Reacher’ under his belt. The actor will also appear in ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ alongside Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron, and fellow X-Men cast member Nick Hoult.

According to the report, Helman is expected to be on set for several weeks, so his role is being touted as a significant one. However, there are absolutely no details available as to who he’ll be playing at this time.

Considering most of the big name mutants are spoken for already, it’s hard to even come up with a guess of who the latest addition to the roster Helman would be playing, so here’s a thought from completely out of left field: Franklin Richards. 20th Century Fox, the studio behind the X-Men movies, also lays claim to the Fantastic Four movies as well. So what if Singer was looking to not only connect the X-Men franchise together, but also connect Marvel’s First Family into the mix as well? After all, the young son of Mr. Fantastic and the Invisible Woman was involved in the original story arc as Rachel Summers’ (the daughter of Scott Summers and Jean Grey) lover. While I agree that it’s a bit ambitious and probably very unlikely since Fox is looking to do a reboot of ‘Fantastic Four’, Franklin is a very powerful mutant in his own right who doesn’t need help from his parents or his uncles in a fight. I’ll admit that it’s really farfetched that Helman could be playing the older DOFP version of the character, but since no one else had any ideas out there yet, I thought I’d throw one out there.

What character could Josh Helman be playing in ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’? What major roles are left for him? If you have any ideas, go on and share with us in the comment section.
