After seven long years of waiting for an update, it seems like we’re finally getting ‘Kingdom Hearts 3’. The popular video game series that combines the characters from the ‘Final Fantasy’ and Disney franchises was one of the focal points of Sony’s monumental E3 presentation earlier this week. However, for those of you who still aren’t turned off by Microsoft and their outlandish new system, you are in for a treat as the series will be available on multiple platforms for the first time ever.
According to an announcement from Square Enix, Sora, Mickey, and the gang, who were previously exclusive to Playstation in their main numbered titles, will be appearing on both next gen consoles, the Playstation 4 and the Xbox ONE. While details are currently limited beyond that fact, we do know that the new game will follow an older Sora and will feature some other characters that we’ve come to know and love in the previous stories. Also, the game is already available for pre-order on Amazon for $59.99, but no release date has been set.

Aside from the new options available for ‘Kingdom Hearts’ fans with this new game, there has been a lot of talk about the changes over at Disney in the time period between this game and the last. The House of Mouse has since acquired Marvel and Lucasfilm, plus there are the relationships with Studio Ghibli and Pixar, so could this mean that Square could be developing some levels to reflect these new Disney properties? Might Donald, Goofy, and Sora be fighting alongside the Avengers or the Rebel Alliance? Maybe they could help Buzz Lightyear defeat the evil Emperor Zurg or even fly with Totoro. The possibilities have just gotten even more endless for Square Enix, so hopefully they are able to utilize some of those properties.
