For Bryan Singer’s return to the X-Men franchise, he’s enlisted a slew of talent from throughout the previously released films. In fact, all the actors and actresses that he’s acquired so far will be reprising their roles from past X-movies, except for newcomer Peter Dinklage. Though we have such big names as Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, and Ian McKellan returning, there are still some members of the team that aren’t exactly locked down for ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’, but on the director’s wish list.
Famke Janssen and January Jones are a couple of top actresses whose names haven’t been reattached to the sequel of ‘X-Men: First Class’ yet, but Halle Berry’s name is all over the news right now because of speculation whether or not Storm will make a comeback. Previously, Singer said that he’d love to work with Berry, who appeared in his other three X-films, but he wasn’t sure if Storm would even be appearing in the film. At the time, all he could say was “I don’t know yet”. Now, in a recent interview with UK E Online to promote his upcoming film ‘Jack the Giant Slayer’, the director was asked outright if the weather witch would return. He replied: “It depends on how it works out. I loved working with Halle, so all I can say is we’ll see what happens.”
Things sound uncertain coming from Singer, but when you ask Berry, it’s a different song and dance all together. In an interview with Shadow and Act, the actress said that she was “90% sure” that she would be returning to the role. Though she kept tight-lipped about specific details, it’s mentioned in the article that details are currently being negotiated. With the movie going into production in April, if talks are as far along as Berry makes them sound, then we should know really soon whether or not her character made the cut. And even if she doesn’t, the nature of the film could explain a character’s absence really easily. Still, I’d like to see Storm have a bigger role in a live-action X-Men movie for once because of how prominent she is in the comics and was in the animated series.
