The media blitz for Disney’s upcoming film ‘Oz The Great And Powerful’ continues as the stars are making their rounds on late night television. On ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’, Rachel Weisz appeared as a guest to talk about how Machiavellian her character Evanora, the Wicked Witch of the East, is and the departure from her more realistic, non-fantasy roles in the wardrobe department. She also brought along a shiny new clip to show off to the funny man’s audience.
In this new clip, Mila Kunis’ character Theodora confronts Evanora, who isn’t exactly in favor of James Franco’s wizard arriving in Oz from Kansas. Tensions rise and a conflict brews to the point where we see the conversation erupt into flames, so to speak. You can check out the clip and part of Weisz’s interview below, followed by the official synopsis of the film:
Disney’s fantastical adventure “Oz The Great And Powerful,” directed by Sam Raimi, imagines the origins of L. Frank Baum’s beloved character, the Wizard of Oz. When Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he’s hit the jackpot–fame and fortune are his for the taking–that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone’s been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity–and even a bit of wizardry–Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful Wizard of Oz but into a better man as well.
I don’t know about you, but I think this film will definitely be something different for Mila Kunis. There’s more to her than the sweet witch we see in the trailers, as seen from this clip. Her intriguing character development alone has gotten me interested enough to check this movie out when I can.
