BBC America is delving into sci-fi with the original series ‘Orphan Black.’ Back in December we got a brief look of the show – and I do mean brief! Luckily the network has released this extended trailer and it looks like ‘Orphan Black’ will be a worthy high concept sci-fi show to catch!

The series can be described as a high tech sci-fi version of the short lived CW series ‘Ringer’ which had starred Sarah Michelle Gellar (‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer). Instead of one sister taking over the life of her identical twin, we have a street smart woman who takes on the identity of a dead doppelganger. She soon finds out that her “twin” is actually a clone and may be one of many in the world. Soon, she realizes that she is the next target and as she seeks to find answers, gets drawn into a conspiracy that leaves her reeling and wonder who is she really?

Graeme Manson, who co-created the series with John Fawcett, explains “As we get deeper into the show and peel back the layers, we unearth the conspiracy and the philosophy behind those responsible for the circumstances our characters are facing.”

“It’s a thrill ride with no shortage of hooks; the ‘how is she going to get out of this?’ question will be answered by Sarah invariably not getting ‘out’, but going deeper,” added Fawcett.

‘Orphan Black’ will debut after the premiere of the second half of Season 7 of ‘Doctor Who’ on Saturday, March 30th at 9PM and before the series premiere of ‘The Nerdist’.

Synopsis:

After witnessing a woman’s suicide, Sarah assumes the strangers identity – who happens to look just like her. Expecting to solve all her problems by cleaning out the dead woman’s savings, Sarah is instead thrust headlong into a kaleidoscopic mystery as she realizes the dizzying truth – she and the dead woman are clones. As Sarah searches for answers, she discovers the chilling fact that there are more people like her out there – genetically identical individuals who were planted in unsuspecting birth parents and nurtured in completely different circumstances. With no idea who created the clones, she’ll need to discover the reason in a hurry as an assassin is killing them one by one.
