I’ve never been one for award season, but I’m never against talking about some of the worst movies of the year. In fact, there’s an award show for that very purpose called The Razzie Awards that highlights and recognizes the year’s most awful cinematic offerings.

This year, according to the Golden Raspberry Award Foundation, ‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part II’ leads the pack with 11 nominations, followed by ‘Battleship’ and ‘That’s My Boy’, the Adam Sandler-Andy Samberg “comedy” about a father and a son. Though there are only 10 categories to win, the ‘Twilight’ gang managed to score multiple acknowledgements in some categories to rack up the impressive (or pitiful, depending on how you look at it) number of noms.

I’m very glad to see repeat nominee Nicolas Cage in the Worst Actor category for ‘Ghost Rider: The Spirit of Vengeance’ this year, but I’m disappointed that the director’s of that film aren’t nominated for Worst Director. This is the only situation that I’d support that atrocious excuse for a movie for awards, but it’s too bad that it’s going up against the final installment of the supernatural suckfest, so it may lose.

A surprising snub is ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’ in the Worst Screenplay category. No other script from the past year’s crop of releases comes to mind faster when the words worst screenplay than that terribly written movie.
