A new trailer for Guillermo del Toro’s new sci-fi film ‘Pacific Rim’ has popped up online and it reminds movie goers just how awesome this film will be.

The trailer debuted at Qualcomm’s opening keynote at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Del Toro was on hand to demonstrate the new Qualcomm Snapdragon, a processor that will enable mobile devices to work 75% faster than its predecessor. Being a fan, the director used his trailer to demonstrate how wonderful he thought Snapdragon was. “Snapdragon ensures the film you see will be viewed exactly as I want it to be seen,” Del Toro had said. “When you’re watching a great film, you want a great experience.”

And what better example than to show a new trailer for his upcoming film ‘Pacific Rim’ streaming off a tablet!

The trailer has some exciting new action packed sequences featuring some great snippets of the crew and Jaegers in fighting form. Visually this will be an incredible film. Hopefully the story written by Travis Beacham (‘Clash of the Titans’) will live up to the action that has been seen in the footages so far.

So while ‘Godzilla’ may be undergoing a transition phase, ‘Pacific Rim’ shows that humanity fighting giant monsters (be they alien or lizard) can still be a viable box office attraction.

Synopsis:

When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes—a washed up former pilot and an untested trainee who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

‘Pacific Rim’ will open in theaters on July 12, 2013.
