This must be the month for red band trailers! Not only was there the release of the NSFW trailers for ‘Evil Dead’ and ‘John Dies at the End,’ now we have one for ‘Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters’ to share.

If you’re wondering how the star of ‘The Avengers’, ‘Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol’,  and ‘The Bourne Legacy’ was roped into filming this supernatural film, to be fair, he took on the role before those films were release driving his star power up the roof.

Anyway, ‘ Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters ‘ tells the tale of the famed Grimm  fairy tale siblings who survived the witch-living-in-a-gingerbread-house encounter and have grown up to become executioners of the evil beings… okay, witch hunters.

This red band trailer is not as explicit laden as ‘John Dies at the End’ nor is it as gory as ‘Evil Dead’ (but then, is anything more gory than that last ‘Evil Dead’ trailer?), but it does show the campiness and Matrix-like CGI that seems to be throughout the film.

In the movie, Hansel and Gretel are recruited by the Mayor of Augsburg (Peter Stormare) with the task of protecting the children from the evil sorceress Muriel (Famke Janseen) who plans on sacrificing them in celebration of the upcoming Blood Moon.

There’s a lot of good one liners in the trailer and you can tell the movie doesn’t take itself too seriously which is a good thing. I’m really hoping this film is not the disaster ‘Dark Shadows’ was last year as it does look like a fun film to see, if only for the chance to see Renner on the big screen and in 3D again.
