Who needs a marketing department when Bryan Singer will do the job for you?
A few weeks ago, word leaked out that Hugh Jackman was in negotiations to appear in the ‘X-Men: First Class’ sequel ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past.’ While it may have seemed like a no-brainer that Jackman would come on board, things do come up, so nothing is really set until it becomes official – and that’s what finally has happened.
On his Twitter account, Singer tweeted the announcement saying:
The throw in of the word “officially” may be due to the fact that last time Singer tweeted about casting news, it was before Sir Patrick Stewart and Sir Ian McKellen had signed on the dotted line. In fact, days after the announcement, Stewart had been quoted as saying he knew nothing of the project and that a contract had yet to be signed. No need to worry though, X-Men fans, as Stewart is very keen on coming back to reprise the role of Professor X and it just means that the details needed to be hammered out.
The “more to come” comment has fans speculating who else may be returning as their future dystopian selves even if it’s for a cameo. Rumors are circulating that James Mardsen is being talked to about returning as Cyclops, however, there still has been no word about whether Halle Berry (Storm), Kelsey Grammer (Beast), Famke Jannsen (Jean Grey) or Anna Paquin (Rogue) have been approached also.
How close the film will be to the actual comic story it’s based upon is still a mystery. The main character in the comic who tells the X-Men about the future is Kitty Pride and so far, no casting news about whether she will be in the film or if someone will be playing the role has been announced. Hopefully by the time filming commences, more about the script, which was written by Jane Goldman (‘Kick-Ass,’ ‘Woman in Black,’ ‘Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children’), Simon Kinberg (‘X-Men: Last Stand,’ ‘Jumper,’ ‘Sherlock Holmes’) and Matthew Vaughn (‘X-Men: First Class,’ ‘Kick-Ass’), will be revealed.
Regardless, ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ sounds like it’s becoming to be the X-Men film that fans have been waiting for.
How excited are you knowing that Jackman will be returning as Wolverine for ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past?’
‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ is slated to be in theaters on July 18, 2014.
