Jennifer Lawrence may be the hot item in Hollywood right now with her fame from ‘Hunger Games’ and ‘X-Men: First Class’), but that’s not stopping the young actress from taking some less big-time roles.

A new trailer was released for Lawrence’s latest film, a horror flick called ‘The House at the End of the Street’. It’s honestly hard to tell from this trailer exactly what the movie is about. All I gathered was that there’s a house where some people were killed and now Elissa (Lawrence) and her mom (Elisabeth Shue) have moved in next door. Other than that, it’s a bunch of the usual quick cuts and screams that you see in nearly every horror trailer these days.

If you really want to know what it’s about, here’s the official synopsis of the movie:

Seeking a fresh start, newly divorced Sarah (Oscar(R)-nominee Elisabeth Shue; Leaving Las Vegas, Piranha 3D) and her daughter Elissa (Oscar(R)-nominee Jennifer Lawrence; X-Men: First Class, Winter’s Bone) find the house of their dreams in a small, upscale, rural town. But when startling and unexplainable events begin to happen, Sarah and Elissa learn the town is in the shadows of a chilling secret. Years earlier, in the house next door, a daughter killed her parents in their beds, and disappeared – leaving only a brother, Ryan (Max Thieriot, My Soul to Take), as the sole survivor. Against Sarah’s wishes, Elissa begins a relationship with the reclusive Ryan – and the closer they get, the deeper they’re all pulled into a mystery more dangerous than they ever imagined.

Hopefully ‘House at the End of the Street’ (or HATES as the trailer so cleverly calls it) will prove me wrong and it’ll turn out to be a gem… but I’m not holding my breath.

‘House at the End of the Street’ is directed by Mark Tonderai and stars Jennifer Lawrence, Elisabeth Shue, Max Thieriot, and Gil Bellows. It crashes into theaters on September 21, 2012.
