Morbius from his upcoming Marvel NOW series

Marc Webb’s follow-up to ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ has been filling roles left and right. Recently, Dane DeHaan was tapped to fill the role of Harry Osborn and Martin Sheen revealed that he’d be returning as Uncle Ben. On the villainous side of things, Jamie Foxx officially signed on to play Electro. However, the electrifying evildoer may not be the only foe making an appearance in ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’.

According to Total Film, actor Asim Ahmad broke the news on Twitter that he’ll be playing Michael Morbius in the web-slinger’s next adventure. Long-time fans may recall that Morbius, The Living Vampire, is a Nobel prize-winning biochemist that tries to treat himself for a rare blood condition by using electro-shock therapy and vampire bats, and then basically transforms himself into a vampire.

But don’t expect Morbius to be causing too much trouble. Ahmad, who can also be seen in small roles in ‘Fright Night’ and ‘The Dark Knight’, tweeted, “Morbius is only mentioned in two pages, not a big part.” It’s possible that Webb is foreshadowing the villain for a future installment or he’s just giving a nod to fans. Either way, it looks as if the character will be making a brief appearance in the film.
