Yesterday, reports of Warner Bros. offering Ben Affleck the director’s chair for ‘Justice League’ lit up the internet exciting superhero fangirls and fanboys everywhere. Now comes news from Affleck’s reps that he will probably turn down the job.

Affleck has made a pretty nice niche for himself over at Warner Bros. With only a few movies he’s directed, he’s become one of the go-to directors for the studio behind blockbuster helmers Christopher Nolan (‘The Dark Knight Rises,’ ‘Inception,’) and David Yates (‘Harry Potter’ films).  While Warner Bros. may have already offered the ‘Justice League’ directing gig to Affleck,   his reps have already stated that he will most likely pass on the project. He might, however, take the meeting with the studio to hear them out but this decision is pretty firm.

It’s not a total surprise that Affleck will not direct ‘Justice League.’ After all, it is a big project and any type of superhero team up movie will undoubtedly be compared to Joss Whedon’s ‘The Avengers.’ Frankly, that’s a hard act to follow. It’s also rumored that he’s very interested in directing the feature film version of ‘The Stand’ and if he takes on ‘Justice League,’ it may take him out of the running as director.

One would have to wonder, with Affleck passing on ‘Man of Steel’ and ‘Justice League,’ did his brief stint as ‘Daredevil’ leave a distaste for superhero films?

So with the director’s chair open, who do you thing should fill it?
