Just days after filming started on the last season of ‘Fringe,’ production was put on hold as their star, John Noble, has gone to seek treatment for a sleep disorder. The shutdown is to allow Noble ample time to get better.

Noble has had this condition for quite a while but it has been aggravated by the recent schedule of appearances and the start of production. Prior to appearing at Comic-Con, Noble had just flown back from his native Australia, appeared at Comic-Con, then went straight to filming the series in Canada. He was to appear in Los Angeles at the TCA Press Tour panel with other cast members but had to bow out. Producers commented about Noble’s absence by saying that he was “under the weather.”

Originally the delay was only to be 3 days, but it was decided to give the actor more time for his treatment. Filming is now slated to resume on August 7th and it’s being said that the delay will not affect the timing of the show’s final season premiere.

The hiatus will also give Blair Brown (who missed Comic-Con because of illness) and Jasika Nicole (who was recently involved in a fender bender) time to recuperate.

The news of Noble’s treatment comes after the cast commented on their disappointment on their cast mate’s Emmy snub.

Fringe’s final season begins Sept. 28 at 9PM ET/PT on Fox.
