The cast of ‘Robocop’ has just added one more to their call sheet and it’s none other than Jackie Earle Haley.

Haley has had an interesting career choosing to play an eclectic array of characters. He was recently seen as Willie Loomis in ‘Dark Shadows’ but has also played Freddy Kruger in the reboot of ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street,’ Rorschach in ‘Watchmen‘and was nominated for an Oscar for his role as Ronnie J. McGorvey in ‘Little Children.’ He will be seen next as Alexander Stephens in Steven Spielberg’s ‘Lincoln.’

In ‘Robocop,’ however, Haley will take on the role of Maddox, the man who is in charge of Robocop’s military training.

Haley will be joining the ranks with Joel Kinnaman in the title role as Alex Murphy/Robocop, Gary Oldman as Norton, the scientist that creates Robocop, Samuel L. Jackson as Pat Novak, a mogul who seems to hold quite a bit of power in the Robocop world, Hugh Laurie as the CEO of OmniCorp, the company that builds Robocop, and Abbie Cornish as Ellen Murphy, the wife of Alex. Rumors also have Jay Baruchel (‘Tropic Thunder,’ ‘The Sorcerer’s Apprentice’) up for an undisclosed lead role in the film.

Filming for ‘Robocop’ is scheduled to begin soon as it already has a release date of August 9, 2013.
