In the most recent issue of ‘Avengers Vs. X-Men’, we find out that Hawkeye is (SPOILERS!) taken as a prisoner by the X-Men. If I’m not mistaken, other titles mention that the X-Men are taking prisoners as well, so what exactly are the mutants doing with these prisoners? Well, ‘New Avengers’ #28 answers that question.

In this issue, we follow Hawkeye, Spider-Woman, and Luke Cage as they try to escape from the island nation of Utopia. A few questions come to mind about this situation though. Judging by Luke Cage’s hair growth, I’m wondering exactly how long they’ve been in captivity. I’m also wondering why Cage looks like Action Hank from ‘Dexter’s Laboratory’, but that’s neither here nor there. It was just a question I had.

Continuing the trend from last issue of delivering better stories in this title, #28 certainly sent me for a ride in this story. I mean, talk about cruel and unusual punishment. I mean, it’s a downright genius way to hold super powered prisoners, but it’s kinda messed up.

All together, this was a pretty good story. I wonder what the X-Men are doing to keep the other prisoners, like Thor, who was neutralized in AvX: Versus #4, under wraps. Judging by the preview for the next issue, we won’t find out, but we will get a throwback to Civil War when The Illuminati returns!
