The San Diego Comic-Con has been hit with tragedy before the convention has officially started. The San Diego police department has confirmed that Gisella G has died on July 10th due to a pedestrian vs. vehicle accident.
When the announcement came that the cast of ‘The Twilight Saga” Breaking Dawn Part 2’ would be participating at a panel at Comic-Con, Twihards immediately lined up early in hopes to gain a seat in Hall H. The ‘Twilight’ panel is one of the hardest panels to get in to which is why fans will camp out for days in advance just to snag a spot. Gisella was no exception.
The 53-year-old female had just retweeted a photo of her and her friends that they were one of the first campers to line up for the event. According to a fan on the scene:
“…Security decided we had to move once again and told us it would be an hour before we would do so. She went with friends across the street thinking there would be plenty of time before they had to return. Security then came back and told everyone they had decided to move us in 20 minutes. They were rushing back to the line to gather their things to move.
I received info from someone who went with her to the hospital that they were rushing across the street, the car turned in front of her, she made eye contact with the driver, she tried to stop to avoid the car, stumbled and fell hitting her head on the pavement. The car didn’t hit her.”
The accident occurred at the intersection of 5th Ave. and Harbor Drive as Gisella was running across Harbor Drive. According to reports, the call came in at 9:22 am. When the ambulance arrived, paramedics found Gisella with a severe head trauma and bleeding. She was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead at 9:51am. The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene and was very cooperative during the investigation.
The accident has struck a chord with Twilight fans and a twitition has been started asking that a moment of silence be observed during the panel. A fundraiser has also been started to help Gisella’s family with funeral costs.
This is truly an unfortunate accident and everyone here at ScienceFiction.com send out heartfilled thoughts and prayers to her family and friends.
