Keri Russell is not a name associated with sci-fi but she soon may be as it has just been announced that the ‘Felicity’ star has signed on to star in the supernatural thriller ‘Dark Skies.’ Russell has done quite a bit since her ‘Felicity’ days and has co-starred in the television series ‘Running Wilde’ as well as having appeared in the film ‘Mission Impossible III.’ She’s starred alongside Harrison Ford and Brendan Fraser in the drama ‘Extraordinary Measures’ and with Nathan Fillion in the rom-com ‘Waitress.’ But ‘Dark Skies’ will be a new foray for the actress.

‘Dark Skies’ seems to be in good supernatural hands as it is being produced by Blumhouse Productions, the same people who produced ‘Insidious,’ ‘Paranormal Activity,’ and ABC’s ‘The River.’ Dimension Films will be distributing the film in the U.S. Written by Scott Stewart (‘Priest,’ ‘Legion’), who will also be directing, the exact plot is still shrouded in mystery but what is known is that it involves an alien disguised as a human and a boy tagged to be abducted. No word on the role that Russell will be playing. Production for ‘Dark Skies’ will begin sometime near the end of next month so hopefully more news of the film will be revealed then. Source: THR
