We’ve seen the trailer and promo images for Peter Jackson’s ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’. One would think from all of those images, that the filming on this epic was already done and post-production was underway but that hasn’t apparently been the case. Jackson posted Thursday on his Facebook page the images you see below along with this statement:

“We made it! Shoot day 266 and the end of principal photography on The Hobbit. Thanks to our fantastic cast and crew for getting us this far, and to all of you for your support! Next stop, the cutting room. Oh, and Comic Con!”

Speaking of said Comic Con, of which Mr. Jackson is referring to the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con of course, about an hour ago, on FB, we got a look at a SDCC exclusive poster for ‘The Hobbit’ and I must say… I like this one much better than the official one we’ve seen already. The image is much more in line with the classic cover to the novel that I read all those many decades ago.

‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’ is directed by Peter Jackson, stars Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen, Elijah Wood, Cate Blanchett, Orlando Bloom, Richard Armitage, and Andy Serkis and will hit theaters on December 14, 2012.
