Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ isn’t the only highly anticipated Batman movie coming soon. Warner Home Video and DC Animation are currently working on an animated version of Frank Miller’s game-changing Batman story, ‘The Dark Knight Returns’ with a pretty impressive voice cast featuring Peter Weller (‘Robocop’), Ariel Winter (‘Modern Family’), David Selby (‘Dark Shadows’), Wade Williams (‘Batman: Under the Red Hood’), and Michael McKean, as well as a script from ‘Batman: The Animated Series’ scribe Bob Goodman, all under the direction of Zack Snyder’s ‘Man of Steel’ storyboard artist, Jay Oliva.

Officially, we’ve seen some images from the film, but as of today, we can unofficially see the first trailer. Courtesy of Comic Book Movie, we can check out this low-resolution trailer for ‘The Dark Knight Returns Part 1’, where you can catch glimpses of The Mutant Leader, Carrie Kelly, Commissioner Gordon, and more. After this brief synopsis for the benefit of those who are not in the know, you can watch the trailer below:

’The Dark Knight Returns’ is set in a near future where Batman is retired and Gotham City has slid into a dystopian state ruled by a gang of hooligans called The Mutants. The 55-year old Bruce Wayne is forced to don the cape once more, this time partnering with a female Robin to not only stop the Joker, but keep the peace when the city falls into chaos after being hit by an electromagnetic pulse.

Despite the low-resolution, you can still see the awesome animation and you get a taste of the vocal talents utilized in the production. I’m definitely looking forward to this release.
