Yesterday, in my article about the first official image from the set of ‘Iron Man 3’ down in North Carolina, I also included a video from a local news station visiting Epic Games Studio, the location where Shane Black and company are currently shooting. In the video, many of the signage and props were covered up, but Comic Book Movie has just shared with the world a picture of one of the covered signs, which reads “Advanced Idea Mechanics”.
That’s right, True Believers. The acronym A.I.M. belongs to one of the most infamous terrorist organizations in the Marvel Universe. Originally created by HYDRA, the organization lead by The Red Skull, the group is a collective of brilliant scientists and hirelings determined to overthrow all the governments of the world by using technological means. After seceding from HYDRA due to political differences, the group became an independent entity that developed deadly weapons for whoever was hiring. One of their most deadly weapons that A.I.M. created for themselves was M.O.D.O.K. (Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing), “an artificially mutated human being with an enormous head and a stunted body possessing superhuman intelligence and the ability to generate mental energy bolts and force fields,” who eventually becomes the leader of A.I.M. by killing their leader and his creator.
While I doubt that Shane Black is bringing M.O.D.O.K. into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (even though that would be SO awesome), it appears that the organization that he leads will be making some sort of appearance. Maybe Aldrich Killian, Guy Pearce’s character and primary bad guy of the film, will be one of the brilliant scientists working for the group. That would be my best guess.
