Looks like Gillian Anderson will be returning to her sci-fi roots as she has signed on to co-star with Haley Joel Osment in the science fiction mystery film ‘I’ll Follow You Down.’

The movie was written by Richie Mehta (‘The People vs. George Lucas’) who will also direct the film that centers on a “scientist who mysteriously disappears after a business trip only to have his son, Erol, make an eeire discovery about his whereabouts several years later.”

Anderson will be playing the scientist’s wife Marika who is also the mother of Erol, which will be played by Osment. Also starring in the film are Rufus Sewell (‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter,’ ‘The Illusionist‘) who will play the missing scientist, Gabriel, and Victor Garber (‘Alias,’ ‘Legally Blond’) as Gabriel’s father who helps Erol (Osment) with the discovery about his father’s disappearance that may bring him home.

It’s been some time since Anderson has starred in a sci-fi film as most remember her fondly as Agent Dana Scully in the ‘X-Files.’ It will be great to see her back in the genre along with Osment who no longer is the little boy who used to see dead people and is now all grown up.

Production has already started filming in Toronto and at this time no release date for the film has been given.
