Last week Ryan Murphy revealed that season 2 of ‘American Horror Story’ would take place in an institution for the criminally insane run by Jessica Lange’s character. Now we hear that the producers are close to signing Chloë Sevigny to play a foe against the institution’s matron! EW is reporting that Sevigny is in final negotiations to play Shelly the Nymphomaniac.

Sevigny is best known for her work as a polygamist’s wife on HBO’s ‘Big Love’ and just finished filming a miniseries in the UK called ‘Hit and Miss’ where she plays a pre-op transsexual contract killer. She was also just recently seen last week playing a wife who was kidnapped while video chatting to her husband while wearing lingerie in an episode of ‘Law and Order: SVU.’ (Hm…sense a trend?) Apparently, the writers and producers are such big fans of Sevigny that it’s said that they wrote the nympho character with her in mind.

Sevigny’s character, Shelly, is said to be one of the mortal enemies of Lange’s character. Earlier it was reported that Lizzie Brochere signed on for the role of Gia who is described as “a fierce, ferocious, extremely sexual and dangerous wild-child sexpot who harbors a secret.”  Gia is said to also pose as a foe for Lange’s character. It looks like Lange will have a lot to handle in the next season!

Murphy has already stated that this season of ‘American Horror Story’ would be “fun, sexy and baroque” and with the addition of Sevigny (and Brochere), the emphasis seems to be on sexy. And while we’re on the subject of sexy, Sevigny will be joining Adam Levine, Zachary Quinto, Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson and Lily Rabe who will be returning from season one all playing different characters than before.

Production for season 2 of ‘American Horror Story’ will begin in the summer but if we go by the casting alone, it will definitely be a titillating season.
