Warner Bros. has now found someone to direct its newly acquired film ‘The Waiting’ and his name is David Katzenberg.
The studio has enlisted KatzSmith Productions to bring the film to the big screen and will serve as producers. If you recall, KatzSmith Productions is the partnership company between screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith (‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter’, ‘Dark Shadows’) and David Katzenberg.
The film was written by first time scribes Mark Bianculli and Jeff Richard and is about two young filmmakers who decided to create the illusion of a haunting on an unsuspecting neighbor. Of course, things don’t always go as planned. The film will also employ the use (or should I say over use?) of the “popular” found footage technique.
Katzenberg does have some directing credits under his belt as he has directed the series ‘Awkward’ and a made for TV movie ‘Dumb Girls’ both for MTV. He and Grahame –Smith also created the MTV series ‘The Hard Times of RJ Berger’ where he served as director, writer and executive producer. ‘The Waiting’ will be Katzenberg’s first directorial feature debut.
Now that a director has been found, it looks like the next step is to cast the film. As more news comes out about his project, we’ll let you know!
