Screenwriter Etan Cohen is in negotiations with Paramount to direct the horror-comedy movie ‘Boy Scouts vs. Zombies.’

This will mark Cohen’s directorial debut as he is otherwise well known for his comedic screenplays. Cohen has written ‘Tropic Thunder’, ‘Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa’ and the upcoming ‘Men in Black III.’

Although he’s not writing the script for this film, Cohen will supervise the writing of the new draft with Lona Williams (‘Bless this House’, ‘Drop Dead Gorgeous’). The original script was written by Carrie Evans and Emi Mochizuki and it made the Hollywood Black List of most liked screenplays for 2010. The two also wrote ‘College Road Trip’ starring Martin Lawrence and Raven-Symoné.

‘Boy Scouts vs. Zombies’ is about… well, Boy Scouts against zombies. Actually, it centers on a Boy Scout troop that must save a group of Girl Scouts from a pack of zombies designed on spoiling their camping trip.

I’m pretty sure more kids would have joined the Boy Scouts if there was a possibility of earning a Zombie killing badge, and am already seeing the potential comedic success this film could have. Although, boy scouts saving girl scouts? I don’t think I’ll touch that issue!

The project is still in the early stages of development but now that they have a director, hopefully casting will come soon. Once we know who’ll be attached to the film, we’ll let you know!
