Joss Whedon is one busy guy! While still filming ‘The Avengers,’ he managed to direct a retelling of William Shakespeare’s ‘Much Ado About Nothing’ starring Nathan Fillion, Fran Kanz and Amy Acker among others. Now while he’s in pre-production for the mega block buster superhero movie, it sounds like he has managed to get another project started, this time it’s the supernatural romance film ‘In Your Eyes.’
Whedon wrote and will executive produce the film which has been described as “metaphysical love story about two seemingly polar opposites who are deeply connected in ways neither could have ever imagined.” While the film is currently in pre-production, Vulture was able to catch up with Abigail Spencer (‘Cowboys & Aliens’ ‘Mad Men’) who revealed that she has just signed on to play the lead for the film. “His next movie, I start that next month,” she says, “It’s my first time [doing a project with Whedon], but I’ve always wanted to work with him. I’m so excited to do it.”
“In Your Eyes” will be the second project from Whedon’s newly formed production company, Bellwether Pictures (‘Much Ado’ being the first). Brin Hill has been slated to direct but beyond that, no other news about the project is known. Spencer did, however, promise that more details would be announced next week teasing, “It’s the most romantic film in the history of time. It’s a supernatural romance.”
Whedon has had success in the past with supernatural love stories so this is one project fans can really get excited about, don’t you think?
