Marcus Nispel might not be high on the “to hire” list after his ‘Conan the Barbarian’ was poorly reviewed and, more importantly, was one of the biggest flops of 2011.

But it seems as if Hollywood still has faith in Nispel. The director just got brought on board to direct the adaptation of IDW Comics’ horror series ‘Hack/Slash’.

The comic book ‘Hack/Slash’, created by Tim Seeley and Stefano Caselli, follows the adventures of Cassandra “Cassie” Hack and her partner Vlad as they slice and dice their way through hordes of monsters called “slashers”. The “slashers” are often based on famous movie monsters such as Freddy Krueger and Michael Myers. The pair have even had an official run in with the killer doll Chucky in the appropriately titled ‘Hack/Slash vs Chucky’.

It seems like ‘Hack/Slash’ might be right up Nispel’s alley. He’s previously directed the reboots of the classic horror series ‘The Texas Chain Saw Massacre’ and ‘Friday the 13th’, both of which were released to mixed reviews from fans.

‘Hack/Slash’ is set to be released by Relativity Media and produced by Alexandra Milchan, Adrian Askarieh, and Daniel Alter.
