Fans have known for a while that Marvel’s “merc with a mouth” was going to kick the bucket in ‘Deadpool’ #50. But, until now, there hasn’t been many details on exactly how Deadpool would be killed. Okay… so we still don’t know how but we do know a little more.

Today, Marvel released a teaser image (below) that shows the title of the final arc leading up to Deadpool’s death that begins in issue #50. Based on the artwork, we now know that the new storyline will be titled simply ‘Dead’ and that it features Marvel’s incarnation of Death as central to the tale.

Tie that in with a recent interview with ‘Deadpool’ writer Daniel Way and we get a glimmer of what’s coming in the very near future for Deadpool. Just prior to the ‘Dead’ storyline, ‘Deadpool’ will feature a tale called ‘Evil Deadpool’. Way says that fans will want to read both arcs in order “to get the full effect of watching Wade throw the snowball that becomes the avalanche.” So it seems that Wade Wilson is going to be the cause of his own demise in some fashion. Personally, I’d say that hanging out with the Grim Reaper is pretty much a bad idea in general but… hey! That’s just me.

Also, for fans looking to catch up on ‘Deadpool’ before the ‘Dead’ storyline, there will be one of Marvel’s “point one” issues just prior to the start of the final arc that will catch readers up on what Deadpool has been up to lately. So, if you’re at all interested in watching the loud mouthed anti-hero get bumped off, be sure to catch ‘Dead’ beginning in ‘Deadpool’ #50!

And while you’re at it, here’s the press release that Marvel sent out along with the teaser image:
