When the teaser trailer for the upcoming fourth ‘Underworld’ film, titled ‘Underworld: Awakening’ hit, I said it looked like more of the same. Kate Beckinsale in tight leather running around in a blue camera-filtered stage and smashing werewolves.

The final full length trailer hit today and it’s done little to sway my mostly negative opinion of the ‘Underworld’ series. However, I have to admit that the idea of an all out vampire-lycan-human war does intrigue me a bit.

The film follows the vampire Selene as she awakens from a twelve year coma to discover that humanity has discovered the existence of the vamps and lycans and has declared war on both races. The only hope for peace lies in Selene’s 14-year-old half-breed daughter. It is a race against time as Selene tries to protect the girl from both the humans and the lycans who would like nothing more than to kill the girl and extend the war until no one is left standing.

‘Underworld: Awakening 3D’, directed by Mans Marlind and Bjorn Stein, releases in 3D on January 20, 2012 and stars Kate Beckinsale, Charles Dance, and Michael Ealy.
