The first pictures of set pieces for ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ have hit the internet and from the pictures below, it looks like the set team is working hard to transform New York City into Gotham City.
Actual shooting doesn’t occur until Friday but there’s a lot of speculation as to what scenes will be filmed. It’s already been confirmed that the cast and crew will be in New York for the next two weeks and that some of the scenes will be filmed at Wall Street this weekend. There were rumors that director Christopher Nolan would be filming at the home base of the Occupy Wall Street protest as it fit the atmosphere of a Gotham city in unrest. The area allegedly would have served as a backdrop or stand-in for something that already existed in the film. But that rumor has been squashed by a rep from Warner Bros. who has stated that “there are no plans to shoot in Zuccotti Park, the home base for the OWS movement.”
What is known is that there will be a big scene filming on Wall Street this weekend that will involve a thousand extras and is set during the time when Gotham has been taken over by Bane. The cops are supposed to return and the “good guys” are to battle with the “bad guys” for the streets of Gotham City. Tom Hardy (Bane) and Christian Bale (Batman) are scheduled to be there filming in full costumes. Supposedly the two are currently rehearsing this scene somewhere in Jacob Riis Park.
From the “No Parking” signs around Lower Manhanttan, it looks like the production team may also be filming there the day before the Wall Street shoot, on Friday October 28.
Since the location shots are supposed to be outdoors, if anyone is around the filming areas, we would love to see your photos or footage of any filming that is done; that is, if you can get close enough. “The Dark Knight Rises’ is filming under the code name “Magnus Rex”, so if you see any signs with this name you know you are in the right area. ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ will be in theaters on July 20, 2012 and stars Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Anne Hathaway, Morgan Freeman, and Michael Caine.
The two photos below are believed to be hiding a Batcycle and maybe another Bat vehicle. What do you think?
