Reporting news over the internet is a tricky business as an offhand snowball comment can roll into an avalanche of gossip. Such is the case with the news of the possible making of another ‘Transformers’ movie.

A day ago we reported that Hasbro was in talks with Paramount, Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg regarding making a ‘Transformers 4’ film. Since then, the internet has been buzzing with the news that ‘Transformers 4’ will be filmed back to back with ‘Transformers 5’ and that Bay will be directing with Jason Statham in the lead role replacing Shia LaBeouf.

So, what’s the real deal? Well, obviously Hasbro and Paramount don’t want to abandon this franchise as ‘Transformers: Dark of The Moon’ brought in over $1billon worldwide. To keep the excitement going, they are considering filming ‘Transformers 4’ and ‘Transformers 5’ back to back. Michael Bay, however, addressed the rumors of his involvement on the Shoot for the Edit forums site:

“I am currently not talking to Paramount on T4 and T5 despite reports. I’m looking at a lot of possibilities coming my way right now weighing options. Most likely going to be doing the low budget Pain and Gain, a true story crime thriller. It’s a very quick shoot and quite funny. Also just finishing the 3 disc set of the Transformer trilogy.    Michael”

So basically, Bay has denied Hasbro’s statement that he is in talks with Paramount. As for Statham’s involvement? MTV asked him outright about whether he would be strarring in the next ‘Transformers’ movie and here’s what he had to say:

“You know, I don’t know how those things start…you know?  You read them…and just…Someone told me about it. It’s like…you know… the internet is a dangerous place,” he laughed. “There’s a lot of stuff there.”

“Would that intrigue you? On any level?”

“Ah, you know, I’ve got a lot of stuff in front of me. I mean, Michael Bay is a very talented man. And, his movies, you know… This last one just made a billion dollars around the world, so people like his films. He’s a talented man.”

So there you have it from the horses’ mouths! Nothing is concrete with either Bay or Statham’s involvement with the ‘Transformers’ sequels but then again…they both left the option open by not denying anything forthright. As it is with all things in the movie business, at this moment right now, it is safe to say that Bay has not signed on to direct ‘Transformers 4 and 5’ and that Statham has not signed on to star. But things may change by next week… or tomorrow… or even in the next hour… Either way, keep it here and we’ll update you as the news comes in!
