Normally Halloween time is my chance to stock up on Frankenberry and Boo Berry cereals but it looks as if DC Comics is going to force me to buy some other cereals. In an effort to tap into a potential market of new readers, DC has decided to insert comic books into specially marked boxes of General Mills cereals including Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Honey Nut Cheerios, Lucky Charms, Trix, Golden Grahams, Reese’s Puffs and Cocoa Puffs.

The promotion will consist of four exclusive ‘Justice League’ comics that will be slightly smaller than standard comic size at 5×7 inches. The creative teams lined up for these issues are: Scott Beatty/Christian Duce,  Paul Tobin/Derec Donovan, Doug Wagner/Christian Duce,  and Joshua Williamson/Bruno Redondo. The covers (which you can check out below) are all done by Dan Jurgens.

The question I have after looking at these covers is… why did DC decide to use their pre-New 52 characters if they’re trying to pull in new readers?
