A few months ago, we got a glimpse at the ‘Batman: Year One’ adaptation from DC Animated Universe when the teaser trailer was released. Today, DC released the first official clip of the upcoming DVD/Blu-ray release.

‘Batman: Year One’ is based on the 1987 comic book mini-series of the same name. The original series, written and illustrated by comic legend Frank Miller (‘Sin City’, ‘The Dark Knight Returns’) tells the story of Batman’s first year on the mean streets of Gotham City. The animated version is executive produced by Bruce Timm of ‘Batman: The Animated Series’ fame and stars Ben McKenzie (The O.C.) as Batman, Eliza Dushku (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) as Catwoman, Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad) as Jim Gordon, Alex Rocco (The Godfather) as Carmine Falcone, and Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica) as Detective Sarah Essen. ‘Batman: Year One’ is directed by Lauren Montgomery and Sam Liu who also directed the DCAU films ‘Superman/Batman: Apocalypse’ and ‘All-Star Superman’ respectively and written by Tab Murphy (Superman/Batman: Apocalypse).

The clip shows the appearance of Batman as he invades a meeting of some of Gotham’s biggest crime bosses. The animation looks as amazing as you’d expect from anything involving Bruce Timm. It looks like it is the comic coming to life. And the voice cast looks great as well. Will it live up to the classic series on which it is based? Find out when ‘Batman: Year One’ is release on October 18th.
