Originally set up as film, the 1998 best-selling novel will now be a four hour, two night mini-series on the A&E Network.

Starring former James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan (‘Golden Eye’, ‘Tomorrow Never Dies’, ‘The World Is Not Enough’, ‘Die Another Day’), the project will be lead by director Mick Garris. Garris is a longtime King cohort having directed a number of projects based on King’s novels including ‘Sleepwalkers’, ‘The Stand’ mini-series (1994) and ‘The Shining’ mini-series (1997).

Production is scheduled to begin in August in Nova Scotia, Canada. The mini-series will air sometime in the fall of 2011. Annabeth Gish (‘Flash Forward’, ‘The X-Files’) is also set to star in the mini-series. Additional cast members will be announced shortly.

About ‘Bag of Bones’:

“This is the story of grief and lost love’s enduring bonds, an innocent child caught in a terrible crossfire and a new love haunted by past secrets. Bestselling novelist Mike Noonan, played by Pierce Brosnan, is unable to stop grieving after the sudden death of his wife Jo. A dream inspires him to return to the couple’s lakeside retreat in western Maine where he becomes involved in a custody battle between the daughter of an attractive young widow and the child’s enormously wealthy grandfather, the mysterious ghostly visitations, the ever-escalating nightmares and the realization that his late wife still has something to tell him.”
