Yesterday I reported about the cancellation of ‘Camelot’ and how disappointing the news was to fans everywhere.
Unfortunately, we aren’t the only ones who feel let down by Starz’s decision to cancel the show. The actors and crew are just as upset as you are.
Apparently the cancellation of ‘Camelot’ has nothing to do with the actors’ availability.
My good source on the web tells me that everyone involved in this project was on standby and ready to begin shooting season two this year, so the cancellation comes just as much as a surprise to them as it is to us, the viewers.
The rumor that Jamie Campbell Bower’s conflicting schedule kept the show from continuing is also untrue. Apparently Bower would have been available for shooting so this wasn’t a factor at all.
The actors and crew were ready. The timeframe for shooting was set. The ratings were high. Now we’re left wondering – why would Starz kill a show with so much potential? And perhaps even more importantly – why would Starz wish to upset 1.5 million subscribers? At the very least, have they no caring at all for revenue?
I don’t have the answers to these questions because what they did is illogical. It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.
Maybe it’s high time someone told Starz that it’s extremely rude to start a series, get over a million fans hooked on it and then just flat out cancel it without any regard toward them at all.
I’ve been waiting endlessly for ‘Spartacus: Blood and Sand’ to return and I’ve been alright with it because I understood that Andy Whitfield’s health was in jeopardy. Of course health related issues take precedent. However, I would not expect Starz to pull the same stunt with ‘Camelot.’
Perhaps in the future Starz will see the error of their ways and continue the series. We’ll just have to wait and see.
