A little over a week ago, word emerged that Carlos Valdes, a.k.a. Cisco Ramon/Vibe, might exit ‘The Flash’ after the current fifth season. Now rumor has surfaced that Danielle Panabaker, a.k.a. Caitlin Snow/Killer Frost, might be following him out the door. Both of these are strictly RUMORS at this time, with the word being that Valdes’ exit looks more likely. The only other tiny bit of information about Panabaker’s departure is that it might happen “soon.” Reportedly, Panabaker is simply looking forward to new projects. Since starting work on ‘The Flash’ and related CW Arrowverse shows, Panabaker headlined a Hallmark original holiday movie ‘Christmas Joy’, last year and appeared in the indie comedy ‘This Isn’t Funny’.
Some have speculated that this could be a bargaining tactic in order to secure her a bigger paycheck, but it’s also possible that after learning of Valdes’ departure, Panabaker decided to follow suit.
Panabaker and Valdes were the first two members of Team Flash, making their debut on ‘Arrow’ Season 2 before shifting over to ‘The Flash’ when it launched the following autumn. Since its premiere, ‘The Flash’ has been the highest-rated show on The CW, topping even its parent show ‘Arrow’.
IF both Panabaker and Valdes leave, Team Flash will be whittled down to Joe West, Iris West-Allen, Ralph Dibny, Cecille Horton, Nora West-Allen, and Harrison Sherloque Wells. That’s still a lot of support for the Fastest Man Alive.
Should both actors actually leave ‘The Flash’, one possible way of writing their characters of could be next season’s “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover, in which it is believed multiple core members will be killed, in a similar fashion to the original comic book series of the same name, in which The Flash/Barry Allen and Supergirl/Kara Zor-El/Linda Danvers were both killed, along with many others. But since they both have shows named after them, it’s unlikely they will be casualties. But their supporting casts could be fair game.
Of course, take all this with a grain of salt, as neither Panabaker nor Valdes have been officially announced as leaving.
