We’ve already seen shots of Mark Strong playing Dr. Thaddeus Sivana in an early promotional shot from ‘Shazam! and this new still has him once more facing off against our hero. Not only do we have a new shot here of Zachary Levi suited up as the leading hero and ready for action but the actor is also letting us know why he wanted to play the part in the first place.

You can check out the latest image from the film that pit villain against hero right here! In the shot, we have The title teen-turned-superhero (Zachary Levi, right) learns his new powers and deals with bad guys like Dr. Sivana (Mark Strong) in “Shazam!””

According to Levi, he wanted to play the hero in ‘Shazam!’ because:

“I’ve always been drawn to characters with big hearts, or they’re drawn to me. At some point, we all thought, ‘If I just believe hard enough, then I can fly or run across the water or read somebody’s thoughts.’ This is a kid getting to live out those dreams. It’s a tale as old as time, but of all the superhero movies, it has yet to be told.”

It has long seemed that this would be DC’s first somewhat family-friendly live-action film since kicking off their cinematic universe with ‘Man Of Steel’ and this really looks to be true. Though how dark the movie could still end up being has yet to be determined as the studio has been known to push PG-13 ratings as far as they could go so far. Not that a rating has yet to be announced.

We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still, a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).

‘Shazam!’ will be flying into your local theater on April 5th, 2019!
