In quite a turn around in events, it would appear that the Wachowskis’s upcoming ‘Jupiter Ascending‘ was bumped back to a February 6th 2015 release date from its intitial release of July 18th of this year.

With just over a month away from release, it would seem that something large had to happenfor the film to get pushed back. According to sources, the $150 million blockbuster which stars Channing Tatum (‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation‘) and Mila Kunis (‘Oz the Great and Powerful‘) needs more special effects work and that was the first open date they could fit the film in after it’s initial release date.

This is clearly news to the marketing department as well with a new international trailer for the film having just been released a couple of weeks back.

The new release date pits the film against ‘Mortdecai ‘ a new Johnny Depp movie which is guarenteed to draw his fans, and Universal and Legendary’s long-delayed fantasy film ‘Seventh Son’, a film that I personally have been dying to see. The film not only will now have much stiffer competition. but is now being released in a month that traditionally has had lower box office sales, though they have been rising in recent years as ‘Lego Movie’ premiered with a quite awesome $69.1 million.

This is a film that had a fun look to it both with the plot and special effects that we’ve seen so far. Are you looking forward to checking it out on the big screen? Annoyed that we now have to wait until next year? Share your thoughts below!
