Hasbro Is Relaunching The Transformers ComicsThere will be more than meets the eye in the new ‘Transformers‘ comic that IDW Publishing which is rebooting the long-running series. Once again we’ll be taking a look at the epic battle between Autobots and Decepticons but when this new book launches, it’ll be throwing us into the past and put us on Cybertron before the war officially begins. Brian Ruckley is set to write the new series with art by Angel Hernandez and Ron Joseph. The plan is to deliver two issues a month to rapidly roll out this story to eager fans beginning in March of 2019.

The new comic is set to begin with a mysterious death that sparks a war between these two factions. It is fitting that with Bumblebee getting a unique cinematic experience that offers a fresh take on the live-action films that he will also be one of the main protagonists in this series.

According to Hasbro’s VP global publishing Michael Kelly:

“We are eager to begin this new chapter in Transformers storytelling. We are excited to begin a tale that will be accessible and appealing to readers unfamiliar with Transformers lore, while still providing the depth and drama that our longtime fans expect. It’s a big responsibility, but we’ve got the right team and the right characters to do it.”

Ruckley is thrilled to be able to work on this new comic and says:

“Bringing Transformers fans this story is a real privilege. But just as important, it’s an amazing opportunity for new readers to discover and explore one of the biggest universes – and one of the best casts of characters – that science fiction has to offer, and to get in right at the start of a truly epic saga.”

On the artistic side of things, Ron Joseph was a huge fan of these Robots in Disguise while growing up:

“In my youth, I devoured everything Transformers – toys, comics, the cartoon, the movie – with a Unicron-like hunger. ‘Robots in Disguise’ dominated my every waking moment. To join IDW’s creative team for the launch of a Transformers comic is staggering, and easily one of the greatest moments of my life.”

If you can’t get enough of the ‘Transformers’, it looks like variant covers of the first issue will be released with art by Gabriel Rodriguez, Angel Hernandez, Casey W. Coller, and Freddie E. Williams II. The second issue will include more artwork by Nelson Daniel, Ron Joseph, and Jeffrey Veregge.
