Mysterio

Ever since the rumors began that Mysterio would be the villain in the next ‘Spider-Man’ film, fans have been worried about how the classic Spidey bad-guy would be interpreted for the big screen. His costume in the comics (and from his animated appearances) has been a little ostentatious and not the best for adapting to something a bit more realistic. Probably one of the oddest parts of his wardrobe would be the massive dome helmet he wears atop his head (which Spider-Man often calls his fishbulb), which Mysterio can see out of but no one can see in. This gives his body an odd shape and prevents you from actually seeing the face of the man behind the mask, one of the biggest problems with a costume in Hollywood as they always want to see the actor portraying the hero/ villain.

Recently, we got our first look at Jake Gyllenhaal in ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ in costume due to a leaked set-video, but it was from somewhat far away, and while the costume resembled Mysterio’s costume in the Ultimate universe, there was no sign of the iconic helmet, which frankly did not worry me all that much as the scene in question looked to be right after the climax of the movie after Mysterio appeared to have been bested by Spidey, and clearly he would have lost his headpiece by then. But the question remained, would he be sporting that helmet in the movie?

Luckily for us all, a new ad campaign from Dr. Pepper recently posted an Instagram picture which seems to have confirmed the iconic look for the villain:

While the pictures may be lacking in details, it does make it relatively clear that Mysterio will be sporting his helmet, which is all I really need to know at this point. No point in spoiling too much of his costume as the movie does not come out till next year.

What are your thoughts on confirming that Mysterio will have his iconic look in ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home?’ Do you think Marvel will be able to pull it off so it does not look goofy or out of place? Have you been looking forward to finally seeing Mysterio up on the big screen? Feel free to share your opinions in the comments below!
