The second season of Neil Gaiman‘s ‘American Gods’ for Starz has experienced non-stop production drama but now it is wrapping up post-production as it has secured a release date and has a couple variations of a new poster for you to enjoy! The network has to be thrilled to let you know to mark your calendars to be busy on March 10th, 2019, at 8 p.m. ET.
‘American Gods’ has seen the replacement of co-showrunners Bryan Fuller and Michael Green with Jesse Alexander (‘Hannibal’) for the second season who also ended up departing the production.
While Ricky Whittle is slated to return as Shadow Moon with Ian McShane as Mr. Wednesday, not every face is going to remain the same. After Fuller and Green left the series we learned that Gillian Anderson‘s Media and Kristin Chenoweth‘s Easter needed to be re-cast if these Gods are to return as they were only there due to Fuller’s involvement.
That kind of loyalty isn’t something you see play out that often on television today.
You can check out the first official poster for the upcoming second season of ‘American Gods’ right here!
If that wasn’t enough for you, a variation of it with slightly different logo placement was shared directly by Whittle in the Instagram post below!
Visually, the promo shots still capture the spirit of the series, but it is hard to say what we’ll see when the show does return.
Are you looking forward to the second season of ‘American Gods’? Even with all of the development issues do you feel that it will live up to the expectations of the freshmen outing? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
When Shadow Moon is released from prison, he meets the mysterious Mr. Wednesday, and a storm begins to brew. Little does Shadow know, this storm will change the course of his entire life. Left adrift by the recent, tragic death of his wife, and suddenly hired as Mr. Wednesday’s bodyguard, Shadow finds himself in the center of a world that he struggles to understand. It’s a world where magic is real, where the Old Gods fear both irrelevance and the growing power of the New Gods, like Technology and Media. Mr. Wednesday seeks to build a coalition of Old Gods to defend their existence in this new America and reclaim some of the influence that they’ve lost. As Shadow travels across the country with Mr. Wednesday, he struggles to accept this new reality and his place in it.
A council at the House on the Rock explodes into chaos, sending deities both Old and New on quests across America that will converge on Cairo, Illinois: forcing Shadow to carve out a place as a believer in this strange new world of living gods — a dark world where change demands commitment and faith requires terrible sacrifice.
‘American Gods’ returns to Starz for a second season on March 10th, 2019!
