Ring in the new year with ‘Young Justice’!  DC Universe has announced, via the teaser clip above, that the third season of the series will be released on January 4th.  Unfortunately, if they follow the release schedule laid out by ‘Titans’, there will only be one new episode released per week.

Sorry to editorialize, but ‘Young Justice’ is one of the greatest animated series ever released.  It ran on Cartoon Network from 2010 through 2013 but ended on a cliffhanger as Mattel pulled their funding after the ‘Young Justice’ toys failed to catch on.

The series follows the exploits of former teen sidekicks, Aqualad, Kid Flash, Robin, and Speedy as they are about to be inducted into the Justice League.  Unfortunately, events worked against them, and instead, those characters minus Speedy, formed their own covert ops team, along with Artemis, Miss Martian and Superboy.  By Season 2, they had been embraced as a secret weapon team by the Justice League and their numbers swelled with added members such as Batgirl, Blue Beetle, Bumblebee, Lagoon Boy, Wonder Girl, and more.

The new season will see The Team taking on metahuman trafficking which leads to a greater cosmic conspiracy of an arms race between planets.  As set up in the final episode of Season 2, Darkseid and Apokolips factor into the story.  Also, as indicated by the subtitle, ‘Outsiders’, the DC superhero team of the same name will be introduced.  That team consists of Geo-Force. Halo, Katana, and Metamorpho, plus a figure that appears to be Forager of the New Gods.  In the comics, Black Lightning was a member but has been established as a member of the Justice League on this series.  Even so, it appears his role will be beefed up with the introduction of these other characters.

So fans of ‘Young Justice’, the new episodes are less than two months away!
