Hellboy Day

It’s hard to imagine that Mike Mignola has been writing ‘Hellboy’ for 25 years and in 2019 we’re getting a Hellboy Day to mark the occasion! Dark Horse Comics have been working with the creator to bring fans something amazing for March 23rd, 2019. The publisher has a release in mind to get fans to head into a location that won’t even cost them a few bucks for attending!

The first of the two is a 25th-anniversary edition of ‘Hellboy: Seed of Destruction’ #1 which was the first stand-alone comic to feature Hellboy. It will include a new cover created by Mignola with coloring by Dave Stewart. Oh, it’s also being given away at the various stores and comic shops which are hosting Hellboy Day events.

Next up are some various free promotional material for fans which include:

  • A tattoo sheet
  • A Right Hand of Doom bookmark
  • A window cling
  • An open/close store sign
  • A new version of the Mignolaverse timeline that originally debuted at New York Comic Con.

For those that are willing to shell out some cash, there is also going to be promotional pricing for the backlist of Hellboy comics that stores can offer.

Mignola thanks fans for Hellboy enduring for so long:

“When I created Hellboy way back when I never imagined he would be around long enough to celebrate a 25th anniversary. I’m grateful to the writers, artists, colorists, and letterers who have joined me in telling Hellboy stories for all these years. And, of course, so grateful to the fans. This thing could not exist without their support, and it’s a pleasure every time I get to go out to meet them.”

If you’re in Sherman Oaks or in Los Angeles on Hellboy Day, you may want to head over to Earth 2 Comics for a special signing event which Mignola will be attending.

This event is slated to occur a few weeks before the new live-action take of the character starring David Harbour, Ian McShane, and Milla Jovovich.
