The upcoming fourth episode of ‘Supergirl’ Season Four, entitled “Ahimsa” will introduce a new character, Manchester Black, a character that Lena Luthor (Katie McGrath) mentioned was responsible for the downfall of her brother Lex.  With plans to bring Lex onto the series, this could be a major development.

David Ajala portrays Manchester Black.  He recently starred on the USA series ‘Falling Water’ for two seasons.  In another DC project, he had a small role in ‘The Dark Knight’.  In the comics, Manchester Black was a ruthless vigilante with telepathic and telekinetic powers, whose lethal attacks on supervillains brought him into conflict with Superman.  He led a band of deadly super vigilantes called The Elite.

On ‘Supergirl’, it appears that he will initially interact with J’Onn J’Onzz (David Harewood), who recently broke ties with the DEO.

Also included in this set of pictures is a look at Supergirl’s new armored suit, which helps her overcome the effect of the kryptonite bomb from earlier.

There is also an exchange between James Olsen (Mehcad Brooks) and Nia Nal (Nicole Maines).  Nia recently revealed to James that she was transgender, of which executive producer Robert Rovner says:

“It’s very important for her to speak her truth.  She chose him because it was relevant to the position she was trying to articulate. I think they have a great relationship. It’s great that we have James really taking control of CatCo in a stronger way this year. As Kara [Melissa Benoist] is a mentor to Nia, so is James.”

The title of this episode, “Ahimsa” is lifted from Indian religions, and refers to the principle of nonviolence to all living beings, because to harm someone else is to harm oneself.

With the anti-alien sentiment building among the human population, in particular spurred by Ben Lockwood (Sam Witwer), it should be interesting to see how a more tranquil stance will factor in.

‘Supergirl’ airs on Sunday nights at 8pm EST, on The CW.
