Wesley Snipes

We’ve known for years that Wesley Snipes would love to reprise his role as the vampire hunter Blade and now that might be happening. The actor has long wanted his character to enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe and that is something which could be on the horizon.

It isn’t clear if there is a movie, animated feature, or television series in the works, but Snipes has teased that there could be not one, but two projects that he is involved with related to Marvel. He doesn’t explicitly reference which area of Marvel he is talking to either, but it sounds like we might see this half breed vampire slayer finding some way to return to the screen.

Here is what Snipes recently shared:

“There are a lot of conversations going around right now, and we’re very blessed to have the enthusiasm and interest in something coming from that world again. We’ve created two projects that fit perfectly into this world and, when people see them, I think they’re only going to have a problem with deciding which one they love the most.
All the main execs [at Marvel] and my team, we’ve been discussing for the past two years. Everyone’s enthusiastic about it, everybody gets it. But they got a business to run, and they gotta square the things that they gotta figure out before they can get to it, I guess. In the meantime, we got a business to run and our own slate of things to do so…
But the next time you see something in [the Blade universe], mark my words: what we did before is child’s play compared to what we can do now.”

A few things of note is that a specific area of Marvel hasn’t been mentioned which does leave the possibility open that this could be a project not attached to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Honestly, I feel that an ongoing series on Netflix would be ideal, but that would depend on Snipes being willing to give the time commitment that an ongoing series would require.

Would you want to see Wesley Snipes return as Blade? Do you think he would make a great addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe or would you prefer the character living in the realm of television? Share your thoughts below, True Believers!
