star wars story

Recently news broke that with the commercial flop of ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story‘ future “A Star Wars Story” movies were being shelved indefinitely. This news doesn’t appear to be true! The news came from sources in Lucasfilm which couldn’t be named, and new sources are confirming that this these solo (pun intended) outings being canceled is “inaccurate.”

In fact, Lucasfilm has shared that there are “multiple” films set in a galaxy far far away that are currently in development which have yet to be announced. For the record, neither the Obi-Wan Kenobi or Boba Fett films have gone into development and could be what these sources are referring to. Other rumored films have been: a Lando movie, a young adult romantic film set in the “Star Wars” universe, a Darth Maul movie, an Ahsoka Tano piece, a tale from Yoda’s past, something that takes place during the Knights of the Old Republic to bring it into canon, and a Darth Vader movie that shows him in full action as was hinted at during the closing scenes of ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.’

While we still have the Rian Johnson trilogy in the works and the trilogy by ‘Game of Thrones’ producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, the standalone movies are being developed separately.

While it is easy to wonder why Lucasfilm hasn’t officially announced any of them quite yet, it does appear that they could be crafting a narrative that will link these stand-alone films depending on how they use the surprise cameo inclusion from ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ going forward.

Are you happy to hear that the “A Star Wars Movie” films are still in development? Do you think that they’ll be linked through subplots or will these all stand solely on their own two legs? Which of the rumored standalone movies are you most excited to see go into development? Share your thoughts below!
