We’re just closing in on Marvel’s ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘ confronting the Kree menace and returning to the present and now ABC is putting the show on pause for a month. That’s right folks, after the February 2nd episode ‘Past Life’ which is this coming Friday, we won’t be able to see a new episode until March. This delay is an added sting to viewers who were promised that Season 5 would run straight through due to the late start that the ‘Inhumans’ caused.
This means that Dove Cameron‘s Ruby won’t appear until March 2nd when we start to find out if she’ll actually end up being a take on Spider-Gwen or just a fan of Quake as has been hinted by her description.
Honestly, I’m hoping for both!
While this delay is annoying, it is understandable as the Winter Olympics will be running during the hiatus and the network doesn’t want to lose viewers of their flagship Marvel series.
The major downside to this is that we’ll have to wait that much longer for the 100th episode to air, which has now moved to March 9th, 2018. Previously executive producer Jeph Loeb has stated that “Look, this is not going to come as a surprise to anyone that’s ever seen a 100th episode, that there will be a significant event. That’s all I can tell you. They gotta get home from space!”
Rumors are flying that this could end up being anything from a significant cameo to a FitzSimmons wedding. If Ruby does end up being a new take on Spider-Gwen, the introduction of a Spidey-themed character would be a great addition to the show and fit for a 100th episode.
It should be noted that an Avengers cameo has previously been denied. This is a shame as with ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ getting ready to kick off, it likely would have been one of the last chances for some of our heroes to find out that Agent Coulson was alive once more. Of course, it is always possible that they were stretching the truth a bit as to who could pop up for the big night.
