Love or hate ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi‘ you can’t deny the smashing box office success it has had so far so you might be wondering when Rian Johnson’s secretive next trilogy will begin filming. A new rumor has it not only set to begin filming in June of 2018 but that there will be scenes done in Scotland, specifically in Argyll and areas in the north of Scotland.

In fact, one location seemingly already locked in is the “Rest and Be Thankful” area which is a “famous pass between Loch Long and Loch Awe”:

While this doesn’t give us an actual hint of what we’ll be seeing, it should come as no surprise that the location in question is a beautiful one which will likely have some very iconic scenery that will shine through. Though, I suspect that this area sadly won’t be covered in Porgs

This location and apparent knowledge that Scotland will be one of the filming locations don’t actually give us a hint of what to expect in the movie. All the source who shared the details of the shoot was able to say is that:

“As is now customary with any Star Wars production, the movie is shrouded in secrecy, but they want to shoot scenes around the Rest and Be Thankful. Further filming has been penciled in for elsewhere in the country.”

What we do know is that the story won’t be based on the ‘Knights of the Old Republic and that Johnson has “all the freedom in the world” to create the new ‘Star Wars’ trilogy.

Can you think of any locations in a galaxy far far away that Rest and be Thankful could fill in for? Will this location be one entirely new to “Star Wars” or something hinted at in previous comics, books, or Legends? Share your thoughts below!
