Incredibles

At long last the wait is almost over.  The first ‘Incredibles’ came out way back in 2004 and despite being one of the most beloved Disney/Pixar films, it didn’t seem like fans would ever get a sequel.  Then, out of nowhere, a follow-up has been announced with a teaser trailer which depicts baby Jack-Jack displaying his myriad of superpowers.  With the new movie just months away, Disney has released another new tease to ring in the new year:

Director Brad Bird is back, after helming ‘Ratatouille’ plus two live action films, ‘Tomorrowland’ and ‘Mission: Impossible– Ghost Protocol’.  Most of the original cast is back as well, including Craig T. Nelson as Bob Parr/Mister Incredible, Holly Hunter as Helen Parr/Elastigirl, Samuel L. Jackson as Frozone and Sarah Vowell as Violet Parr, with Bird himself reprising his fan favorite role as fashion designer to the supers, Edna Mode.  Newcomer Huck Milner steps in as Dashiell ‘Dash’ Parr, taking over for Spencer Fox, who aged out of the role.  Other new additions to ‘The Incredibles 2’ are Catherine Keener, Bob Odenkirk and Pixar regular John Ratzenberger.

Not much is known about the film’s plot, other than it picks up immediately where the last film left off, with the heroes taking on their latest threat, Ratzenberger as the film’s main villain, The Underminer.  It also appears that Bob will be a stay-at-home dad, taking care of Jack-Jack while Helen returns to crime fighting full time.

Here’s the teaser trailer, which set records for the number of times it was viewed upon its release.

‘The Incredibles 2’ will be released on July 15, after being bumped up from its original 2019 date after ‘Toy Story 4’ began to fall behind in its production.
