After venturing off with the Avengers to stop Ultron, the God of Thunder returns to Asgard in ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ next week and gets reunited with his long-time comrades in arms like Hogun the Grim, Fandral the Dashing, and Volstagg the Valiant. However, there will be someone missing from the reunion and now we know why.

Though many of our favorite Asgardians will be returning for the Thunderer’s third solo film, Jamie Alexander’s Lady Sif has unfortunately been sidelined and will not take part in the battle against Hela. While the in-story reason for Sif’s absence is still currently unknown, the actress did shed some light on the real world reason that kept her from rejoining the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a recent conversation with Yahoo!:

“I was asked, but the timing of when they were going to shoot and when ‘Blindspot’ was gonna shoot — it was pretty much the same time. So there was a conflict there. I was hoping for more of a notice from [the studio] so I could make it work, but it was a short notice thing. They called and said, ‘Hey, by the way, would you come do this?’ I said there is no way I can make that work that fast. It couldn’t happen. They were on a different continent! So it was sad. I was bummed about it.”

Since Alexander first appeared in the MCU by way of the first Thor movie, her career has blossomed with opportunity all around Hollywood. Not only has she gone on to star in ‘Blindspot’  and reprise her role as Sif in ‘Thor: The Dark World’ and ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’, but she has appeared in ‘Nurse Jackie’, ‘The Brink’, and various movies spread out across many genres. But she’s hopeful that she’ll return to the House of Ideas somewhere down the line:

“Oh, sure! I love Marvel. I’d be happy to do other projects with them at any time. They’re a great company — I love all the guys and girls over there — they always are able to get a really fun cast for almost every project they have, which is often. And, of course, who doesn’t want to be a superhero?”

Considering how many people are involved with ‘Avengers: Infinity War’, it wouldn’t be that far-fetched to see Lady Sif fighting alongside Thor, Valkyrie, Hulk, and the rest of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. But whether she pops up there or somewhere, hopefully we’ll see her again soon. Until then, let us know what you think about Sif being left out of ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ in the comments below.

‘Thor: Ragnarok’ starring Chris Hemsworth, Karl Urban, Jeff Goldblum, Cate Blanchett, Tessa Thompson, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Anthony Hopkins, and Mark Ruffalo strikes theaters on November 3, 2017.
